Cpu temperatures

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm currently running an AMD 2500 mobile processor at 1.7 volts, fsb 210 multiplier 12 (which means I'm running the pro at 2.5 ghz as opposed to the standard 1.8 :D ), I'm using a thermalright SP97 heatsink with a 92mm silent fan, and I am getting readings of 45 c under full load (running seti and prime 95 torture test). Only other cooling is an extra fan on the graphics card (9600XT vented externally) and two 92 mm's on the PSU. She drops under 40 c at idle.

The SP97 is deffo the heatsink to have.

I have PS Doctor fitted which gives three constant readouts. This morning, ten minutes after boot up the readings are CPU 28 degrees, HDD 29 degrees, and SYS 26 degrees. Last summer in the very high temperatures, the highest temperature on any reading was 46 degrees. I do have an extra fan because I asked for extra cooling, because the computer is in a room which gets very hot, but whereabouts it is fitted, I don't have a clue.

Don't get in too much of a panic about this.

Modern processors will shut themselves down if there is any danger of them frying themselves and most motherboards have a detector which will signal over-temperatures before the danger level is reached.
