Missing file

Recommended Posts

A Norton one button scan came up with the following result. I have run msconfig, but the file is still missing. Until now there appears to be no problems, everything that I have checked is working so far. I have done a search for the missing file but it has not turned up in the protected recycle bin. Any ideas please.

Thanks for trying to help. You gave me the idea of searching for an answer on Google. I would appear that I have two choices. I can safely ignore the message, or download a large file from Microsoft. Does anyone have any ideas as to which course to follow please?

I would ignore, but it's personal preference.

What you would download is the .NET Framework. This allows you to run applications coded in the .NET languages. I won't go into detail about what .NET is, but theres a page on MSDN about it for you ...

THANKS, don't think I'll bother

After conflicting advice I decided to download it. It only took six minutes on BB. There is now a minor irritation. When my computer starts it normally goes to my desktop within a couple of minutes or so. However since the download I now get a welcome screen and am asked to click onto my name. This means I cannot switch on and leave it to start up by itself. I have looked into 'user accounts', but am reluctant to fiddle with the settings without advice, as I do NOT want to have to log on or off in future. Incidentally the missing file is now there for what it's worth.

Download TweakUI, you can fix the logon thing and tweak lots of other settings :D

Many thanks. I suppose that this log on business is a result of the download. When i get in later I will follow your suggestion.
