doug
I've got an Acer 24 x 10 x 40 CDRW. Now I have had difficulty reading CD's generated by other people but could always read those generated by myself. Now I can no longer burn a data disc but the reader won't even read my own disc's. I'm running Win XP pro and no problems are showing up in device. I've had the drive out and ensured all the cables are solidly plugged in. Any suggestions? I wanted to burn some tapes for G'daughter to listen to on holiday and am now stuck. Also when We get back I'll need to archive all the photo's @ll be taking. Suddenly I miss it's capability. :(
trackrat
It is possible the lens is has gone out of line, from the speed of it it must be a few years old, why not buy a new one they are cheap enough these days.Take a look at this link.http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.ht...ssageID=1600883
-pops-
I don't think it's worth trying to get an errant CDROM or CDRW working again. It's rarely successful and, as trackrat says, they are cheap enough these days.

doug
It'll have to wait 'till after we get back from our hols. Other calls on the spodulas. Off at ~4 am Sun to Nice. The drive down to Le Camp Nr the Paul Rickard circuit (for the petrol heads). Staying in friends caravan in the forest directly above the coast. After the heat of the day, to have a long cool G & T under the pine trees in the cool of the evening Ahh bliss. Dream about this during the winter evenings. doug
Very generous of you bvw. You'll note from my sig. that the sponsorship is going very well. Will have to have a good rest after the run to do the local collecting. Nearly covered the whole local area except for this very nice looking estate about a mile away. Very tempted to go door knocking there. Be a good excuse for a sneb after getting back from hols.

Boris
Be a good excuse for a sneb after getting back from hols.Doug - what's a "sneb" - some local word ?
doug
As a Cockney up here in Geordie land I think it means being nosey. Mind I have misinterpreted some of the local idioms before and nearly got wrong for it. English was never very good but gramma has improved since coming here. :D
