where I work, everybody in the office wants to play a joke on this one guy and change his desktop wallpaper to "something." :P anyway, problem is we have to login and enter a password. Is there anyway I can edit his wallpaper(without logging into his account) so next time he logs in the wallpaper will show up?

where I work, if my wallpaper was 'inappropriate' I could lose my job!! Whilst we all like to play jokes on our workmates... some jokes just aren't very funny. :(

Why not tell him that the boss wants him to get a bucket of steam? :whistling:

I would have taken a VERY dim view of that being done in the company where I was in charge.

My son, who employs a number of people, takes the view that if his employees have enough time on their hands to mess about doing things like that, they also have plenty of time to look for a new position in another company - he gives them two hours to do that.

What you are wanting to do is irresponsible and whilst I don't represent any "official" view on behalf of this forum, I believe that the forum acts responsibly and would discourage any action such as you are suggesting.

If you want to persist in this foolishness, carefully check your contract of employment beforehand.

I don't think that any of us are spoilsports on this forum, but surely your employer pays you to work. It may seem harmless, but you could accidentally muck his computer up completely.

my employer is in on this, and I do work. Can't we have a little fun during our lunch break? We could easily walk over and change his password, but we don't want to do that.

Whatever. I don't want anymore comments like "you should be working instead of doing something like that." I work a lot, don't worry.

The picture is one of John Kerry, since the man is a real Bush supporter. It's nothing inappropriate.

Don't take me wrong, I understand why you would tell me I should be working. I agree. People should use their time at work to do work (that's why people say I'm going to 'work' right?). We were doing this at lunch (they allow us to surf and take a break. nothing inappropriate though.) We all need a small break in our day. Anyway, I guess I'll just drop this. Thanks for feedback.

Even so, I and I'm sure others here find what you want to do, with or without your employers consent, unacceptable.

As madboy33â„¢ has said

Unfortunately asking us how to "hack" his passwords or even bypass them is a bit of a silly thing to ask
and I am left wondering what sort of employer you have that encourages actions like this.

Has no-one considered the possible consequences of this. It may start of with pictures of John Kerry but where does it end? I imagine a tit-for-tat situation ending up with all your computers having pictures of vile obscenities. That's one way wars start.

I have worked in the USA but I find that the attitude you are showing very much at odds with the work ethic that I experienced there.

You seem to be missing the main point. This forum is open to public review and can be read by anyone who wishes to do so.

Broadcasting information that could be used to the detriment of others, whether that be you or someone else, is not a recommended procedure and goes completely against the philosophy of this forum and of good manners.

Ok i think this was taken a bit far by everyone. Now outraged people this was only meant as a joke on one of his mates. Now the outragee (lol) you cant expect these people who are law abiding citizens to know how to hack a password. Please dont ask people these sort of questions (even if meant for a joke) because it is illegal to do what you asked and anyone involved could get a harsh talking to. Thank you and good night lol :lol; :)

I shall close this thread to spare our new and welcome member pezplaya any more embarrassment.

I'm sure he asked the question with the best of intentions.... unfortunately we can't help and we also know how these things can get out of hand.

Please stick around pezplaya, we would enjoy your input. :)
