I received this is my mail today. Did a search and found the *******. Now rid of it.

Sorry to have to tell you, but, the BlankA virus has been passed to me by a contact. My address book in turn was infected. Since you are in my address book there is a good chance you will find it in your computer too.

The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by the address book whether or not you sent emails to your contacts.

I followed the direction below and easily eradicated the virus.

Here is how you check for the virus and get rid of it.

1. Go to start, find or search option.

2. In the file/folders option, type the name: jdbgmgr.exe

3. Be sure to search your C: drive and all the subfolders and any other

drives you may have.

4. Click "find now"

5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe. DO NOT OPEN IT

6. Go to edit (on the menu bar), choose "select all" to highlight the file

without opening it.

7. Now go to the file (on the menu bar) and select delete. It will then go

to the recycle bin.

IF YOU FIND THIS VIRUS,YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK

SO THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS.

To do this:

(a) Open a new e-mail message

(B) Click on the icon of the address book next to the "TO"

© Highlight every name and add to "BCC"

(d) Copy this message above and paste to e-mail.

(e) Enter subject

No, I'm serious. Found the file with the Teddy Bear icon, in search.

Recently I've noticed my AV hasn't kicked in on every startup and Sygate Firewall stopped working adn I had to keep re-installing. I had a feeling something wasn't right with my 'puter but could find nothing with my AV or the on-line AV's.

How would the lady in Canada know I could have it? And how did it get there?

Since finding and deleting the file I've re-booted several times and my AV and Firewall work as normal.

It can't be a hoax.

DOH!

No, can't be. Coincidence that I was having problems but now they have gone. No, can't be, surely not.

So I got rid of the file but everything is working perfect, so what did the file do anyway?

I've only just seen this one this morning. It should have been started today April Fools Day. If you check on PCA website you will see that we all love poor old Teddy, but certain people will insist on trying to get rid of him, poor thing.

Hi

That e-mail has been doing the rounds for the last 18 months or so.

As a general rule, if you get an email saying there is a virus that the likes of Norton, Mcafee; AVG or the like can not detect, it is a fair bet that it is a load of ****.

ONLY (maybe) act on an email, if it has came from a AV software company that you have registered with, but even that can be dodgy.

Just keep your AV software upto date and you should be ok.

BEWARE there is Virus going around at the moment, it is an E-mail from

MS Public Services it is 214kb in size and it claims to be a secuty patch.

Just delete it

Microsoft DO NOT inform people of securty updates via e-mail.

Also if you are using Outlook Express or Outlook make sure that the message preview pain is OFF, as this feature will run a virus if you receive one.

You have been warned <_>

All the best

Tony

The preview pane is the window below your emails that will show what is in your email without you actually opening it up.

If you have to click on your emails to read them then you won't have it enabled, but if it is and you want to disable it then;

In outlook express go to 'view' then 'layout' then untick preview pane
