lester1
Having problems when trying to read e-mail notifications from the forum!Often when opening a notification in Outlook express I get the forum log on page . I always find that after viewing a topic OE has been minimised. The only way to stop this happening is to disconnect and reconnect with IE.

-pops-
? I don't get email notifications of replies in this forum. Am I missing something?I don't want a notification and if I did get one, I would soon turn that facility off, as I have done in other forums I have been a member of.Note that I use Firefox and have experienced nothing untoward in it at all. moon
Note that I use Firefox and have experienced nothing untoward in it at all.I didn't have any log-in problems elsewhere, pops, only here. That's not why I chucked it though. It took me three hours trying to install Java and I still couldn't do it. I'll accept that I'm a bit thick. :D

nellie2
How do you have your cookies set up? The forum relies on cookies so that it knows who you are when you come back, if you are set to dissallow all cookies then that could be why you have to keep logging in all the time, also, do you have the remember me box ticked? (It is hidden!! When you go to log in, instead of just typing your name and password in the fields at the top right of the screen, just hit go... you will then get a second log in screen pop up with the remember me box available. moon
Did all that with Firefox 1.0, nell, no joy. Cleaned out all cookies, everything. I was still getting the log in box when it said 'You are logged in as moon' at the top. No trouble with Opera or Internet Exploiter. It appears there is some conflict between the site software and Firefox for some people
nellie2
It might be a skin bug... there is also a problem with searching, if you try to search for a word that is three letters or less then the board tells you to log in even though you are.... this is because it can't bring up the correct error page. :ninja:
-pops-
Just started a new thread here about a Firefox critical update. Might do something for this problem.

mark2
possibly your WF cookie has become corrupted, I've had a similar problem in the past, and it took 3 lots of clearing cookies every 2-3 days to sort itself out.

At present there is a problem in that instead of sending one notification per topic, you are informed of every single posting. I sometimes find as many as 60+ e-mails first thing each morning. Nellie knows about this problem and so does Craig.
