I suppose some do - but that's not why I watch it.

I've been following F1 for four years now and have been to the last two British Grand Prix.

Watching it on the tv isn't a patch on being there, the noise is amazing, the atmostphere is fantastic.

I could go on for hours..................... :)

In all the time I've been following F1, (Many years) and for the past 15 years or so, very closely, I've never been to watch a live race. :(

My son has promised to take me to one next year. Don't know yet which one it will be as it will depend on how his duties work out and leave periods.

Even though I only see them on the TV. I can sense as though I'm there, feel the tension, smell the aroma of high octane fuel and burning oil - screeching of tyres and the see the glow of the carbon brake pads. Probably pass out when I get to a live event and miss the lot

It's obvious i'm not a F1 fan, but I would have thought that watching it on tv (atmospere aside) would be a better viewpoint as there are cameras all around the track and you can see different parts of the race instead of being at one point and seeing a blur of vehicles flying past at a 100 or so miles an hour or faster.

Djohn.............you will love it. I'll never forget the first GP that I saw, I was shaking that much I couldn't hold my camera

As I said before, the noise is amazing. What you hear on the tv is nothing compared to being there. One car alone sounds like an aeroplane.....so you can imagine what 20 of them sound like when they come around the first corner (we usually sit at Copse corner). You can actually 'feel' the vibration of the engines.

There are lots of F1 cars on show too so you can get up close and have a look.

Ranger..........there are lots of very large screens all around the circuit so you don't miss anything.
