doug
Thought I’d do a posting on what the Hospital (Hunters Moor Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit – Wish they’d shorten the name) propose to spend the sponsorship money from the Great North Run. I’ve managed to rake in £2971. The present thoughts at the Hospital are to put it towards pain control. So far they have identified a laser – laser This Company is about to supply one for a 2-week evaluation, although there are others that may be considered.A digital camera so they can map progress of bedsores. These are a major consideration for long-term patients. I was impressed reading through the laser link to see the reduction claimed.A piece of ultrasound equipment for pain treatment. They have one on loan from another Hospital who now wants it back.Any monies left over to be used to acquire TENS machines for lending out to patient.I’m sure this list will be modified but I thought it interesting so see the things they want to put the money towards. Again thanks for all your encouragement and support.Further Edit now at £2976 resulting from a very enjoyable dinner out tonight

andsome
Well done old 'un. I can recommend Tens machines to anyone with joint or muscular pain. Mine cost about £25. I can go months without needing it, but when my back plays up it is invaluable. Most chemists or out patient departments or physio departments of hospitals sell them. Damo
>Damo, any thoughts re:training to get the summer fat off yet?I'm going to be bulking up for the next 10 months, the run will fall nicely for my pre contest diet, so at that time I should be down to about 6% Bodyfat and totally shredded. So at the moment I'm not doing much cardio, only about 2 hours a week on a bike. I'll start to build up the stamina around june. the only trouble for me that I can forsee is there's a slight chance I might burn off a little bit off muscle especially with virtually no body fat for me to use as energy during the run. I'll have to remedy that when the time comes though.Still looking forward to it though.

doug
That seems a bit late in the day. The last couple of years I've been out occasionally during the winter - only on nice days though 4 miles or so. Then start working up in ernest in the spring. Don't forget running uses it's own muscle groups.
