trackrat
I downloaded the free version of avg 7 and it installed with no problems. On looking at the virus vault it had defaulted to 20% of my hard drive which gave it 38GB to play with .Has anyone else noticed this.If you click on the avg symbol, right click virus vault, then left click open, then hit theF8 key and you can alter the size of the virus vault.I changed mine from 20% to 1%. doug
Same here 20%. How do you change the setting?
trackrat
If you click on the avg symbol, right click virus vault, then left click open, then hit the F8 key and you can alter the size of the virus vault, by reducing the slider. djohn
Thanks for the tip trackrat. How much space does the thing want! Down to 1% here as well but not to happy with version 7. Will give it a couple of weeks to settle in then if still not working to my liking it will have to go.Takes twice as long to scan as version 6 did. 25 minutes compared to 12 minutes. and still sending the "Scanned with AVG..... message as an attachment instead of placing it at the foot of the mail when using Outlook. :( Works fine with Express though. :blink:PS: Passed your excellent tip over to PCA trackrat and credited it to yourself, hope you don't mind. :)
Boris
Weird - mines set at the minimum which seems to be a maximum amount of 1.1 gig (allegedly 1% of the disk volume) - yet the H/D is only 57.2 gig [notional 60] (partitioned C 32.2 gig + D 25 gig)How do they do their sums ???
Boris
The actual Virus vault folder is only 109k :)
djohn
My Icon properties says 280 Kb but this is from the help files of version 7.The Vault Tab allows you to set parameters for the Virus Vault. They include the maximum size of AVG Virus Vault, the minimum ammount of free space on the hard disk, and automatic file removal. Use the last section to save space on your hard disk by limiting the number and age of files in the Virus Vault. You can enable the Limit the size of Virus Vault option to determine the minimum free space (in Megabytes) that must be preserved on your hard drive, and the maximum size (in disk size percentage) that can be used by all the files stored in the Virus Vault.Enabling the Automatic file removal option will automatically delete the files in the Virus Vault. By default, the settings include file deletion after 90 days, and file deletion (again, starting from the oldest files) once the number in the Virus Vault exceeds 200.
