IE has always been hit so hard because of it's popularity, the more popular Firefox becomes the more viable it will be for the script kiddies to target it. scuzzman Posted January 11, 2005 Report Share Posted January 11, 2005 Also take this into account:Internet explorer is tied so deeply in with the operating (considering it's the shell in which My Computer, all folders, etc run) that vulnerabilities in it are vulnerabilities in the operating system.When a browser allows administrator access to the files on one's PC, you're begging for trouble. Mozilla is not more secure simply because it is not written by Microsoft. The simple idea of that is absurd. Microsoft will no longer be offering Internet Explorer updates to anyone running Windows 2K and below...*Edit - this has since been confirmed to be incorrect...It was simply stand-alone Internet Explorer, the OS patches will continue to be distributed.
