An urgent warning has been issued by the Food Standards Agency after a potentially cancer-causing dye was discovered in more than 350 widely-eaten food products.

FSA chief executive Jon Bell told Sky News: "There is no risk of immediate illness and the general risk is very small.

"Clearly if anyone has any products throw them away or return them," he added.

A list of the foods HERE it is very hard to get on that website at the minute as its getting hammerd: heres a few tho:

Heinz Shepherds Pie

Crosse & Blackwell Worcester Sauce - All sizes

The products are either ready-made meals, sauces or other processed foods.

The list includes 68 own-label lines from Asda, 55 from Waitrose, 45 from Morrisons, 42 from Sainsbury's, 39 from Tesco, 26 from Somerfield, 14, from Iceland, 14 from the Co-op and 15 from Marks and Spencer.

As was said - it's mostly ready meals - not something I buy very much. I do like Worcester sauce though.

i live off the things me ...... ive prob got loads of Sudan 1 in me :unsure: tasted nice tho..........

It's only Cross & Blackwell's Worcestershire Sauce (From Cambridgeshire), not the real Lea and Perrins (from Worcester).

Please be aware, as well , that Sudan Red 1 was, at one time, used as a food colorant. Also, any toxic effects it is claimed to have were discovered by feeding gross overdose amounts to the test creatures before any adverse effect was demonstrable and that the effect observed in the test animals (rats) have not been shown in humans.
