We paid £2900 for our house, it is now valued at £180000. It's all got out of hand.

I wouldn't complain if I were you as it looks pretty good to me :lol:

I wish my house had that much going for it!

I just feel sorry for newcomers to the market. The increase in value is no use to us at all. If we sell up we have to re-purchase in the same market.

It's all very depressing for the future, because it is not just houses, it is everything. Attached are some thoughts that I penned some time ago for another purpose. There is no wonder that poverty (in it's variously measured relativities) exists world wide.

I accept your point but you could always rent and bank the money from the house sale!

You must be joking, have you seen rents lately. It's impossible to get anything like our house for under £800 or so per month. How long would the sale money last at that rate?
