It is taking over 5 minutes to do so. Is this normal? I seem to remember that when I've had to use Task Manager in the past it reacted very much faster within seconds. andsome Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 I've found that in my limited experience printer software can tend to become corrupted from time to time. I occasionally find that when I want to print an envelope the envelope is shown turned through 90 degrees. The only way I can cure it is to completely uninstall the software and reinstall it again. In the case of my printer over the last couple of weeks I've uninstalled/reinstalled it four times, the last time being today after the printer died, or maybe just went into a coma. Its a Lexmark X84 and has been giving me a lot of trouble recently. Lexmark, bless their cotton socks, have come up with various tests, which it passed, but have been unable to cure the problem. The initial problem being that after the printer control panel came on screen it was taking around 20 seconds to start printing. Then yesterday it just came up Not Responding after the 20 seconds, which led to the Task Manager question. Today I swopped it to another computer and it worked perfectly. At the same time I installed a cheapie printer on this computer and that worked perfectly. For some reason/s unknown, the Lexmark printer just will not work on this computer anymore.If anybody knows the answer I will be eternally grateful.On a different note entirely, WinPatrol keeps warning me of a programme wanting to install, namely '%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k' Searching Google I found that most of the programme name belongs to Sasser, but could not find an exact match. Anybody know what it is please? So far I've stopped it installing simply because I don't know what it is. It came as part of Panda Titanium 2005 which I downloaded. As Panda could, or would, not tell me anything about it despite three emails I removed Panda and installed a different antivirus programme. Scarecrow Man Posted June 23, 2005 Report Share Posted June 23, 2005 Open Printers. Right click your printer > properties > advanced tab. Make sure, Spooling is selected, and start printing immediatley is also selected. If you are having problems, try printing directly to the printer.
