Spybot Crashes

Hi,

Any Ideas ??

Ever since the last update of Spybot it has crashed out on Search & Destroy. It starts and status says 'Unknown' then it drops out

Spybot was working fine until this update was applied.

Immunize still works OK

Your windows drive is D rather than the normal C ........ anyone got the same arrangement where SpyBot runs this way ??

I was merely giving the opinion that as far as I can see, the letter assigned to a drive would have no relevance. When I first started to use a computer the main drive was invariably called D, now it is usually C, but as has been pointed out, some are called E. The question was asked, we have all tried to provide a possible answer. Hope this clears up the point.

The Spybot on Win 98 works OK

Bad update... try re-installing SpyBot.

Tried that even tried restoring the system from backup to before the update but it still crashed out.

I have Dual boot Win98SE on C:, and XP Pro SP2 on D:. I have just run S&D ok. Not that that helps you any r4, but just thought I'd say it's ok for me :Surprised Dry(1):

S & D Works OK on Win 98SE OK but it is installed within Win 98SE it's the one on the XP Drive that crashes.

Just a suggestion. Try uninstalling it, then running a scan from Start/Search and typing in Spybot Search and Destroy, and deleting everything that comes up. Then run Crap Cleaner and RegScrub XP. Finally save the registry to a folder, as a back up, then search in there for any references to Spybot and delete them. If you do any damage you can always re-merge the registry. Then try a reinstall. I have had to do this with the odd programs on occasion, and it usually works.

Appear to have fixed it or at least got round the problem.

I was running Spybot V1.4 Beta2 on XP and V1.3 on Win 98SE.

Whatever I did with 1.4B2 failed to fix the problem so I Uninstalled it and Cleaned system 'Al La Andsome' :blink: etc and loaded V1.3 and it worked OK.

Good suggestion; but keep the Teatimer.exe from the RC2 version, as the final version has some severe problem with the Accept/Decline pop-up (see http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=31735).
