andsome
I am sure that I have been there. When I (worked) for a German based company in Reutlingen, we always used to arrive on Friday evenings for a sales meeting starting on Monday mornings. We were taken out on trips during the weekend. I know that we visited several places on the lake, and remember well going up a cable car to a posh restaurant for lunch. We also went out on the lake for a couple of hours or so. I am sure that it was Freiburg.
AlanHo
When I (worked) Go wash your mouth out with soap for using filthy language. Shame on you.Freiburg looks like a very picturesque place with some lovely buildings. Even MacDonald's has a restrained and tasteful appearance. artist
It looks familiar to me too. Is it at the Black Forest 'end'?I think it's the pink buildings that strike a chord - I'm off to see if I can find some photos..................Lovely place all seasons by the look of it. :)
Tony
Hiandsome:- Reutlingen is a couple of hours drive away, so it is a strong possibility that you visited Freiburg while you where there. And yes at the top of the Cable Car in the town is a very posh restaurant.AlanHo:- That McDonald's is the only one i know of where they ARE not aloud to have the big Yellow M, due to the local architecture.artist:- Freiburg is the capital of the Black Forest, it is all around us here.Freiburg has a huge Tourist Trade, so if you have been on holiday touring Germany there is a good chance that you also went to Freiburg.Freiburg is situated in the South/West corner of Germany, 40Km from the Swiss boarder and 20Km from the French boarder. It can also get bloody hot here in the summer, Freiburg has the most sunny days in all of Germany on average.Tony
expertec
Sounds like a nice place! :D If I'm ever in Germany, I'll be sure to check it out. :)
andsome
The restaurant as I remember it, had lots of dark wooden panelling, with a well brushed finish, giving a raised grain structure. This is done with wire brushes, and finished off with an abrasive impregnated nylon bristle brush. This gives a lovely old appearance to the timber. The restaurant also had a wooden veranda with dining tables on it with a beautiful view of the lake. I am now certain that this is where we visited, as it must have been a couple of hours or so drive. You would obviously know Reutlingen. It is a nice town rebuilt after the war, in the traditional style that pervaded before the war. It is surrounded by seven extinct volcano's.
