The right way to do it?

I'm SURE you have seen the "Think" adverts, especially the one with the little girl and her bones cracking. But it has been taking that bit too far now IMO.

It is recorded on a mobile phone and I believe it is real.

What do we think? I know road safety is important, but is this pushing it? My spine tingles everytime I see it.

My honest opinion is that it can only do good. The points about road safety need driving home time and time again.

There are too many people killed on the roads. But....

There are more people per day killed in hospitals throughout the country by MRSA etc than there are people killed on the roads in a year.

Why is it that there are no Big Brother CCTV cameras in hospitals monitoring staff activity on the hygeine front and issuing on the spot fines for admitting unclean staff into controlled areas etc. etc. Why is there no big publicity campaign throughout the length and breadth of the country. Surely it is a matter of Health and Safety just as much as road safety. More so if the numbers are taken into account. Where are RoSPA on this one?

Having very recently spent a week in hospital with a lady doctors finger almost permanently stuck up my rear, I can't see the CCTV idea taking off (unless they offer people like me some royalties once Tarrant gets hold of the footage :D )

That said, Catgate, you have made a very good point (once again) and I couldn't agree with the sentiment more. Another example of the poor prioritizing of by the man with his hands on the purse strings.

Not only poor prioritising, but illogical mentation. I feel sure that the cost of caring for those who do not die of hospital engendered infection must outweigh, by a good margin, the revenue from speed cameras. Unless of course we are being shielded from the true revenue from them.

Those who have to be cared for after picking up black grass fever, blodge, snithers and all the rest, cost the public purse £x. The revenue from speed cameras and fines is £y.

If, as seems likely, x is greater than y, then the publics purse is the poorer for putting more emphasis on speed than hygiene.

I suppose it depends on how you value grannies and children, and for what purpose. In cases where public sympathy and a big Ooh! factor are needed, they are valued equal, along with dogs with wooden legs and asylum seekers, but when it comes to something with no photo opportunities then it is probably about 10 grannies = 1 child.
