As of today, several new profile fields have been added in your control panel which you are free to fill in for others to view.

In addition, profile fields that were already available, may need reselecting due to some changes.

The following fields are available for you to fill in:

Motherboard

Processor

RAM

Operating System

Full Name - Not visable by other members

Country - Just so we know where are members are from!

As usual, it is optional for you to fill in this information, but it is nice to see what other members have as a computer!

Some people don't even enter their sex, date of birth, where they live, what their interests are. I don't understand their reasoning. I think that the more we know about each other, the better the forum is.

PS. I can't see where to put full name. It's Keith Jones. (andsome Keith Jones of course). :jump: :jump: :jump:

I can't enter the amount of RAM that I have (1.5 Gb) as the options don't offer this amount but apart from this a very good feature!

The RAM increments have been adjusted.

What other fields do you lot think would be nice to have?

Soundcard - AC '97, Creative, etc.

That's all I can think of anyway!

Quite a lot of sound cards on the market, could be a long list like the processors!

Do you folks see the Operating System drop down in your profile?

Yes, but I still can't see anuwhere to state your full name.

Ah, noticed an error!

Full Name field is now available for view/edit in your own profile only.

I personally don't see the point as no other member can see it and you wouldn't really want them to see it anyway as it's confidential info

I don't mean Staff members or Mods of course but normal members like myself.

Edit:

I now see what Craig was referring to so ignore the above!

I don't mind staff seeing my real name but wouldn't like it to be on display to guests for example :o

I have nothing to hide

Neither do I but would prefer only staff members see my real name as I trust them.

You have to be careful nowadays with identity fraud, etc. :o

Indeed.

The 'Full Name' field was added several months after Windows Forum was created. Originally it was their so that if I wanted to make correspondence more personal, I could do so by adding their name instead of username.

Now however, it is the first check I use when validating webmail registrations. For webmail registration, users are only allowed to use their forum username, however anyone can say they are someone else, so they are also required to enter the same full name as that shown on the forum profile, and only you will have access to that!
