Will I? - Won't I?

Looking in the mirror, I thought I ought to slim,

So I bought myself a tracksuit and drove down to the gym. Well, playing squash could cost a packet with shoes, T-shirt, shorts and raquet -

A daily dip would keep me slim - such a pity I can't swim.

I'm seasick on the rowing machine, and pumping irion is just not my scene.

I'd try aerobics to get fit, but when I bend my trousers split.

I couldn't even touch my toes - I think I'll just buy larger clothes.

I have, I am afraid, a sweet tooth, and though I don't take sugar in coffee or tea, I like to finish a meal with something sweet. On Fridays, because we do our shopping in Sainsbury's, I treat myself to a jam doughnut. Sainsbury's doughnuts are to die for. Yummee!

Anyway, a couple of months ago, my regular blood tests showed that the sugar levels were rather high and the doctor warned of possible problems (diabetes) so I cut out the after-meal cakes, chocolate and even the beloved weekly doughnut. Although I didn't do it to lose weight, I have noticed that my waist band has slackened off and my weight has dropped from 12st 7lbs to 12st 2lbs over about 2 months.

I just hope the blood sugar levels have also responded.

This rubbish must be of enormous interest to you.
