I've noticed this has been empty since the change over from Computer Trouble, I'm sure there are plenty of you that have made your own web site, so lets have a look at it, it might encourage a few of the others to embark on building their own with our help.

Its nothing special, its built very simply using Nvu, click on the link in my page to Nvu because it helps Nvu keep it free and the more referrals they get, the better it is for them in their quest to keep it free.

I'm glad you like the site, most people wouldn't have a clue what its all about, of course you would having the call GM1DVO. Have you got yourself on HF yet?

No not yet on HF, in fact the only piece of equipment I have at the moment is a hand-held 2 meter set which I bought in the USA years ago. There is no terrestrial working around here because of the hill's, in fact if it wasn't for GB3 BT and GB3 DU (our new repeater here in Duns) there would be no working at all.

May I comment on a technical aspect of your website? I personally think it is a little bit hard to read, black on repeated graduating blue. You may not see it the same way if you have a different screen resolution, but you should always consider people with different resolutions.

To me it looks like this

This makes it discouraging to even start reading. Suggestion: use body style property

background-repeat: repeat-y;

This will repeat the background image vertically only, not horizontally.

I originally used the site as somewhere to keep files which I wanted access to anywhere, but people kept asking for details of my antenna and noise cancelling unit I decided to open it up. The original site was build without a WYSIWYG editor using Windows Notepad, but as time goes by I started to get lazy.

I have found WYSIWYG editors work up to a point, but you've still got to edit the code sometimes because they don't always do want is expected of them.

I actually had a very similar situation when I set up my Japanese PC with English Windows. I put all the information first in a Word document, then later on a website, as people keep asking and asking. It's of course a very terrible old layout, but people still find it useful, as I try to keep it up-to-date.

Glad this section of the board is back up and running again, this is where I spent most of my time a while ago and probably will do from now on!

I'm working on a site at the moment, and should have a few basic design pages up and running over the next few days, for which I will post up here for opinions!

Nop, its still working, try a traceroute on it, the final destination is Lycos who is my host you may have a router down between you and it.

Fascinating language, I had enough trouble learning Spanish, Japanese would be a non-starter for me, but interesting none the less.

I was going to ask you if you've ever been asked about Japanese on a Linux box, but I just Googled quickly and notice they've got that pretty much covered in their inimitable way.

Japanese is indeed an interesting language, but really not easy to learn, especially if you are not that young any more. I am still struggling after more than 18 years of learning...

I don't know much about Linux, but several guys at my office have Japanese version of Linux. I'm sure there are similar mechanisms to display or input Japanese as on Windows systems.

I've just been having a good look at your web site, wow, I've been looking at the google strings, I didn't know google could be used in this way but very interesting. I'm going to save your site in my bookmarks, this is going to keep me quiet for hours!

Thanks for posting those sites, The retirement one was of interest to me, until I realised you were in the US! Being 57 years old I do have the option of retiring at the age of 60, oh the joys of working for the government, namely the National Health service.

The second site on vertigo is one I can relate to, although I don't suffer myself, my mother does. When she was a young girl she contracted Scarlet Fever which damaged her left ear, which of course is very uncomfortable but very dangerous seeing as we drive on the left over here, her natural reaction is to turn her head to lip read, bad news! So when she was given the job of driving ambulances during WW2 and nearly having more than one near accident she was given another job in a factory.

Obviously she can't ride a bike or negotiate stepping stones, I've got a few stories about that! Maybe another time.

Both sites are very good and easy to use.

OK here is my site, Freiburg Nomads C.C., it has been a labour of love for me over the past 4 years.

Not much development on it in the last 2 years though.

The Stats pages have not been updated in over a year, as the guy that used to do all our stats left the club to return back to Scotland.

I have always said from day one of the site that i will build it and maintain it, but not do all the content on my own (i think this is fair).

The site is a bit tired now, and needs some heavy development on it. One of our new members is a web developer, so i have asked him if he wants to take the site in a new direction, which we will both sit down and discuss, He has agreed to this, so this site now, has not too much time left for this world, as the new one should be up and running by the start of the season.

I've been thinking about giving my site a facelift by using some templates from someplace like FreeWebTemplates.

I'd also to make it a bit more lighthearted. I've been doing quite a bit of reading at the Motley Fool's website, and I like their style. Maybe a more 'foolish' homecomputeraid site would be nice? :)

Nice clean web site, I like web sites like that where you don't have to go around searching for the page links. I've built a web site at work for our department on the organisations Intranet similar to yours and I'm thinking of changing mine along similar lines.

Thanks for the plug, but strictly speaking I think GarenaSix should take the credit for that link because it was from his site, incidentally, have you had a good look at his site? There's lots of goodies on there to play with.
