nellie2
I'm no stranger to the innards of my tower... in fact I built it myself and regularly 'get in there' to clean it or add something or mend something. However my laptop is a different story. I don't know what it looks like inside... I am worried about even trying to open it up. But it will no doubt collect dust and fluff... how do you clean them? Are laptops really as mysterious as I think they are?
r4may
I don't think laptops are much different than desktops except all the components are 'Low Power' components. You can buy motherboards and all the rest for laptops the same as you can for desktops/towers if you know were to go,and then build your own. woodchip
You will find it very hard nell to update or buy any parts for a Laptop. About the only thing you can update is Memory and Hard drive. Do not consider opening a Laptop. Only as a last option. Rives and memory are under plates on the bottom or side of laptop. to Clean first keep them clear of dusty areas and do not Smoke as the tar sticks to fan blades heatsinks then dust sticks to it better. use a can of compressed air to blow the slotsYou will find it very hard nell to update or buy any parts for a Laptop. Belatucadrus
Some laptops are extremely difficult to get into, best cleaning option is probably the compressed air can to keep the vents clear.
Scarecrow Man
I had to take a laptop apart once to solder a faulty power connection...Think of it as a child version of a desktop. Everything is smaller. The HD is 2.5" instead of 3.5". the CPU is generally the same size, but the heatsink is (on some models) horizontally alligned rather than vertically. There is a lot of nonsense metal plates, and plastic brackets to keep things from sliding around.Once word of advice, label the screws/parts you take out as you go. You may find yourself with bits left over and no where to put them... ;)

nellie2
I didn't really intend on opening it up. (It's still under warranty anyway) I was interested on how they are put together and on the cleaning aspect. I was quite surprised at myself though... scared of the laptop
