Chris
When planning the release of the 2007 Microsoft Office system, formerly code-named Office "12", we took on the challenge of making the core Microsoft Office applications easier to work with. Taking into account extensive usability data and recent advancements in hardware and software, the team has delivered the most significant update to the Microsoft Office user interface (UI) in more than a decade. The result of these efforts is a user interface that makes it easier for people to find and confidently use the appropriate features they need to get the results they want.More | Here
benb
Saw this on Digg. Looks extremely amateur to me. Kiddish and colorful. Not good.Office 12 Beta 1 looks much better.
-pops-
Further degeneration of MS products into cuddly kiddie land - all curvy and pretty pastel colours.I don't think I'll be buying it - especially as OpenOffice offers so much, is constantly updated and free.It is also notable that a number of large organisations (including the government) are wanting to move away from the MS monopoly on operating systems and office software towards open source and this is illustrated by the British and European Patent Offices moving to their own version of XML for the preparation of patent specifications. AlanHo
This is confirmation that I have entered my second childhood - I like the look of it and the way the menus are arranged. Very logical.
andsome
Office 2000 is great as far as I am concerned. I am well used to it now, and it suits me fine.

Scarecrow Man
Office 2003 is the latest release, and there are many companies still using Office 2000 because the cost of upgrading is far too high.I tested Office 12 BETA 1, and other than not being able to un-install it, I found it quite easy to use. I like the new interface, and the useability has increased greatly. No longer are you searching endless menus for the formatting tool you need. The most common tools are located in the main toolbars, and easily accessed.I do agree with pops, how OpenOffice offers just as much as MS office, and the price tag cannot be beat. I for one am curious to see what OpenOffice develops to battle the new MS product. :)
andsome
I once had a look at Open Office, but could not find an equivalent to Publisher. I make all my own greetings cards, and it would be no use to me without the means to do this. Publisher is dead easy to use. I also need Power Point, Outlook and Word. I only have Excel, Access etc installed in case I need to open something from someone else. When doing letters, I can do an envelope and put the address in straight from Outlook address book. I have got used to all these facilities, and see no reason to change.
Scarecrow Man
Well, I've come into posession of Office 2007.I'll be installing it and testing it shortly, after making a full backup. I've learned my lesson messing around with Office 12 BETA 1.
