Just watched the news, gritter lorries spreading dust on melted roads after a few hours of hot weather.

How come the roads don`t melt in Spain ?

Our temps exceed 35c or 40c regular, in fact its cloudy and still 28c air temp now at nearly 9 o/c.

PS thunder storms on the way to you from Spain apparently ;)

Aren't your roads dust anyhow

  Yeah but there is tar under the dust.

They just relaid part of the 340 near me, three lane highway, they just coned off the lanes one at a time and resurfaced it about a hundred mtrs at a time.

Good, I love a good thunderstorm and it should help to cool things down B)

Don't forget to pull your plugs folks if/when the storms come along.

It isn't a myth about computers being destroyed by electrical storms - I've seen the results too often.

I take it you are referring to this article?

It's a very good question as we rarely get temperatures as high as in Spain so how come UK roads can't manage heatwave conditions and yet Spanish roads can?

Answer: pass

Yep...great advice! It happened to us several years ago. Left for vacation....monitor and computer (only one at the time) turned off but not unplugged. Fancy surge protector in between them and the electrical outlet so I thought it was fine. Came back from vacation to find the computer and monitor were fried from a lighting strike during a severe storm.

Lesson learned. Computers and monitors are being unplugged before we leave for vacation tomorrow! :D

Similar happenings, but the bit I saw was from the Essex area.
