As this season has progressed it has been noticeable how much Reuben Barrichello, second driver for last years World Champions and former team mate of Schumaker, was so reliant on the Ferrari car for so much of his performance. It has also been noticeable this year how much Schumakers new team mate has improved from a fourth division driver into one that has been able to hold his own with the ex world Champ now he has a Ferrari under him.

This makes me wonder how much of the wry mouthed Michael's performance is car, and how much is driver, (and pit wall strategist). It would be interesting to see him in, say, a Toyota, up against another top half dozen drivers all similarly mounted.

Yes it would be interesting, as it would for all other drivers. MS has always been fast though even in his Benetton days. It is the combination of pit wall strategy, car engineering, driver and team that makes the sport so fascinating to me.

A superb Grand Prix today on a marvellous track. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

(Barrichello is a mystery to me. Likeable man, as far as I can judge, but hardly makes the best of his machinery on every occasion)

Thos.

I agree.

He no longer has the Ferrari to help him and I think it happens to a lot of drivers when they no longer have a good car at their disposal.

Me too.

One of the most exciting races I've seen for a long time B)

In full agreement again.
