catgate Posted September 24, 2006 Report Share Posted September 24, 2006 Earlier in the evening I was perusing the TV listings, largly to reassure myself that things really were still as desperate as I concluded they were only a week or so ago. One thing that struck me was that there was a programme about Blockbusting Movies. It raised an interesting point in my mind. "Just what sort of blocks would they be that could be broken by a film?"Then I started wondering where has all the comedy gone from TV. At one time it was there as a regular thing several times per night on each channel. Now all we get, in total, is a couple of helpings of profanity (cunningly disguised as comedy) twice per week from all five channels. Now, as you say, it's utter rubbish. Belching, farting, pulling stupid faces and generally being objectionable. The point is that these old ones are still funny now when they come on Sky or cable. Why can't they write thing now like, Fools and Horses, Porridge, Butterflies, The likely lads, Open all hours, Fawlty Towers, etc etc etc? Most of it makes me laugh.I have just found out that that wonderful series "I didn't know you cared" is now available on DVD.
