People take advantage of computer user's wanting to pick up some programs for "free". Some of these scum bags will load a program up with some adware. You have to ask yourself?Why would a company give away free programs? Don't get me wrong.Their are some very nice programs around. Just be carefull.It's dangerous out there! But there are folk out there who believe in open source just as there are folk on this forum who are willing and happy to give up their time and expertise to help others with no return for themselves.Your message is right though. They are good, reliable and useful programs.I appreciate that there are free programs that are offered with nefarious intent but, in my experience, these are seldom encountered. Perhaps this is because we use different parts of the Internet to source them.The free programs I use are always loaded on the advice of others and, if new, I consult as much of the information available about the program and its producer before I consider downloading. Even then, I make it a rule to prepare a full backup of my system in case something goes awry (I do this anyway with all changes I make to my machines).As Thos points out, not everyone is in this world to try and trap the rest. Some (many, most) arewilling and happy to give up their time and expertise to help others with no return for themselves.I come on this forum and try as best I can to help with other members problems. I don't get paid for doing this and don't expect to either. If you think this is odd, then so be it.As with the whole of life, you need to be careful but, I don't feel over protecting oneself in the ways you seem to be suggesting is the correct way to go. If anyone asks about a program, and others think it is suspect, then they pass on that information immediately. The lesson is, if in doubt, ask advice here first. Be patient if a reply does not come immediately, someone will usually come up with good advice.Now that you have found us, welcome, and please stick around and join in. :)P.S. nellie2 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Share Posted November 24, 2006 There are a lot of good programs out there that are provided for free, one of those programs is called EULAlyzer™ If you or your friends aren't sure about a prog that you have found then run the EULA through EULAlyzer, it should flag up anything that is a bit dodgy.BTW...
