davidwang
I need a free internet porn filter software, currently I use the free trial version of "netdog porn filter", http://www.netdogsoft.com , it does a good job, but cost 24 bucks to buy, anyone knows some free software? I need to protect myself from stumbling into pornography by accident on the internet
AlanHo
I doubt if you will find a free one. My neighbour has spent countless hours looking for one to protect his kids and finished up buying Cyber Patrol - which catches most, but not all sites. There are a lot of clever fertile devious brains out there who spend their time finding ways round such protection because big money is at stake.Good luck in your quest - my bet is you will need to buy one. -pops-
I need to protect myself from stumbling into pornography by accident on the internetI don't think my Internet use is particularly unusual but it is extremely rare for me to "stumble into pornography". In fact, I don't recall the last time that I saw any such material.Whether you come across this subject or not depends entirely on the areas of the Internet that you frequent.Yes, I do get email messages advertising such content but my ISP provides and efficient filter for junk mail and the small amount that does escape is filtered by ePrompter such that I am never subjected to any material I don't want to see. AlanHo
I believe the most appropriate reason for such protection is not to stop yourself stumbling around - but to prevent curious kids from accessing porn if that is at all possible in this more enlightened society. -pops-
I appreciate that, Alan but davidwang specifically stated he want to protect himself from this stuff. OK, possibly he is a "curious kid" but in that case he will forever be wanting to over-ride the filters he has in place.
Panarchy
Can't you create your own filter based on other filters from trial or demo programs? Also I don't know if this will work but maybe, Adblock Plus?
Scarecrow Man
The easy way: Block access to ALL sites except the ones you put in a trusted list.Of course, this prevents freely browsing, but it is a free way of blocking websites you dont want.
