They are doing something similar for us. There is nothing much that we need, and rather than buy for the sake of it, these gifts will be sent on our behalf to a third world country. Much better than racking the old brain box to think of something that each person may or may not need.We make a generous donation to the Salvation Army each December and we do like to buy for the kids and our friends. As far as gifts for the two of us we generally limit it to a couple of gifts that are well thought out and personal. The older you get the less you need and when you need something you just buy it yourself. But it is still nice to buy gifts for each other. We tend nowadays not to buy specific gifts but earmark a treat which we both share. For example, if we go on holiday to Europe treat ourselves to a better hotel or business class travel. korgg Posted December 18, 2006 Report Share Posted December 18, 2006 I'm also done :) First Christmas when I'm done on time and with some extra cash on my accounts. Got a nice coat for my girl. And also a machete (kind of a big knife used in jungles :D ) for my father. I know he will enjoy it. Got myself a Philips Philishave HQ6170 (?) electric shaver that managed to get my face in a really red state. They say it takes two to three weeks to get used to it. But it works. My mother is going to get a Pancho and my sister a t-shirt (a crazy one :) ) And I have one last thing to do. Charity ! Since this year I sorted some of my clothes that I don't need I'm looking for someone who needs them. We have for some time donated this way to people worse off so we don't buy any presents for anyone.I have suggested British supermarkets could do this, just had a standard type of reply up to now, but if they adopt the idea remember, you saw it here first!
