Any Offers...?

It's my 70th birthday next week - so I decided to go abroad on holiday to avoid any hullabaloo from friends and family. It hasn't stopped them sending cards and presents in advance though.

One gift that arrived in the post this morning was a miniature vacuum cleaner powered from a USB port. It has a long soft plastic "snout" and the blurb claims it is ideal for safely removing dust from the inside of your computer - including the processor heat sink, cooling fan enclosures and blades. At first I thought it a bit of harmless frippery - but on second thoughts it could do more harm than good.

To clean my computer with it I would have to have it running in order for the USB to be powered. I don't fancy poking a long plastic snout around live innards - do you? If so, generous offers for it are welcome, especially from blondes.

My usual disclaimer about being held responsible for any damage done would apply........ ;)

I use a mini vacuum cleaner to do inside mine, together with a can of compressed air to dislodge the muck. It is however plugged into the mains with the computer switched off and unplugged.

What a carzy idea to suggest cleaning an open LIVE computer.
