mark2
as the title says I'm trying to recover emails for a friend, from Outlook express, on an almost defunct hard drive.I've made a fresh install on a new HDD.I have been able to recover a large number of files including what appears to be the whole docs and settings folder, using a usb caddy and some O & O recovery s/ware, however which folder are the emails stored in, and as important how to get them to the fresh install ? -pops-
Any chance of using the files & Settings Transfer Wizard?
Chris
C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{WHATEVER}\Microsoft\Outlook ExpressTo get them on the fresh install...in OE, Tools, Options, Maintenance; Store Folder. Grab the path! Close OE. Goto to the store folder. Paste all files. Open OE and voila.
Irene
Mark, I use Outlook, not Outlook Express. I think they are very similar. In Outlook, if you touch File (top left-hand side) and look down the menu for Import and Export; touch this and you should be presented with a menu of items to import/export, including mail, addresses etc.Maybe the same will apply to OE. :)
