doug
Been having a bit of bother logging into some sites - like Tesco for on-line shopping. Seem to be able to get so far then the page just hangs - Firefox 2 and Talktalk for my Broadband. Sometimes, if I wait long enough I can get through - however I don't think it's because of traffic overload because I can log into my favourites, such as here, with no problem. To take an example we have to do a lot of on-line shopping and use Tesco for this. Now we never used to have a problem, even while using TT but of late I can get to the log-in page relatively easily but the next stages are a problem. I cannot say when the problem started it seems to have just got steadily worse. I've been in touch with Tesco Tech and followed their suggestions O ensuring date/ time settings are correct; Deleting the cache and enabling/deleting cookies. I'm running AVG free 7.5 and it's uptodate. Also ZoneAlarm - free and Tesco is a trusted site. Have been looking at the error consul and find all sorts of warnings such as the attached screen shot. If anyone can help out here be very grateful. Will stick with the Tesco problem as if resolved it should act as a pointer to the other problem sites. catgate
Are the problems time related (i.e. 'net rush hour). I may be wrong in linking TT and Onetel, but we do have trouble sometimes (on Onetel) between school closing time and mid evening time, and I put it down to too many people trying to get down too few wires. Boris
dougJust tried going around Tesco with Firefox (2.0.0.3) and I have had no problems at all :)
doug
Not related to any particular time of day.
-pops-
Is it the same with other browsers? Netscape or Opera?
andsome
My friend with TT finds that it is faster than dial up, but she only achives about 25% of the advertised speed. Have you run a speed test? This one is quick and simple to use.
doug
Yes pops, more or less the same with IE 7.0 which may point the finger at TT. However I do't think it's entirely down to them, I'm sure there's some sort of set up Problem with my PC.
doug
Slight correction there. Have just managed to log in using IE and even brought up My Favourites that the wife uses. But no success using FF. This makes very suspicious about my setup. All suggestions will be welcome.
-pops-
Try a re-install/repair of FF - which will update it if necessary as well. Get it from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html but scroll down to the British English download. It will install on top of the original and keep all of your bookmarks and settings. cozofdeath
I agree with pops. It sounds like something is registered incorrectly. Reinstalling should help. If not check this out.
doug
Tried those with no progress. Son-in-law suggests a fresh install so I'm asking for more help. I want to remove Firefox and any residues then do an install from scratch. If that works I'll then follow up doing the same with IE 7, BUT I'll do that later after FF is working properly. doug
Hmmm. Partially successful. Removed FF using control panel and re-booted. Installed FF and it seems to be much better, then tried Icesave - the IE bank I have a lot of problems with - and that worked. Spoke to Chris - son-in-law (known to you in the past as Private Smith) and he said delete the cache and if they work OK I may have fixed the problem. Well, it still works for Tesco but is now held waiting for Icesave. So there still seems to be a problem kicking around. It is quite evident that the problem is mine on my system. Any further suggestions please!
