Coreper Posted June 7, 2007 Report Share Posted June 7, 2007 we all know the basic Search function from Internet Explorer 6, but there also is a way easier to use search method: just type your search term in the adress bar and press ENTER to searchnow you know of that, you can help me with my problem:suddenly that search engine [from the search bar] changed to the Windows Live Search engine [which i really DONT like!]how can i reset it to Google?i already searched the registry entries in the HK_CurrentUser/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer for:-anything with SEARCH in it: only got results with the www.google.com string in them [most have some additions to them]-anything with Windows Live in it [searched the whole registry]: but that gave to much results, so i stopped searchingthe search engine from the basic Search function [by pressing the Search button in Internet Explorer 6] DID stay on Google...i also tried several .reg files which would set Google as my current search page, but no changesthis problem occured when i tried to install the most recent version of Adobe Reader [i stopped the process when the Adobe Download Manager started, because i then saw that it was the English version, and not the Dutch version [i like it Dutch, but the most recent Dutch version is 8.0]that installed the Google toolbar, which i immediatly removed when it was installed...i already tried reinstalling the Google toolbar, but no changes...does anyone else know how to fix this problem/set google to my default adress bar search engine?please help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Irene Posted June 7, 2007 Report Share Posted June 7, 2007 Are you using IE6 or IE7?On my IE7, to the right of the search bar is a drop-down menu where the 'magnifying glass' is. If I press the down-arrow beside this, I have the option to 'Find more Providers'. Coreper Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2007 ok, ive seen some other screenshots about adjusting the search preferences, but they just dont match my optionsi attached a screenshot of my search option in IE6note: this is NOT the search engine what i am talking about, i just show this to show that my searchpreferences are different from the ones shown on internetbut now i know what files are restored and which are notbut if i return to a previous point, will that erase files i created after that point?
