I did say not to prejudge him. However, as Chancellor he has not distinguished himself very much. Note what he did to our pension plans, note the fiasco with tax credits, note the fiasco with the child support agency, and worse of all, note that the poorest 10% are poorer than before, and the wealthiest 10% are many times wealthier. Note the abolition of the 10% tax band in his last budget and the slight reduction in the bottom rate, this meant that those who are paid more than £42000 per annum are much better off, those earning less than £16ooo per annum are poorer, and the rest are neutral. He will have to improve very much on this dismal performance to impress most people.

I agree with your points above (all of them) and we will have to wait and see if he can close the gap between the rich and the poor although I'm sceptical to be honest

I agree with your points above (all of them) and we will have to wait and see if he can close the gap between the rich and the poor although I'm sceptical to be honest

Have a look at the way "child poverty" is defined. ,,,,"children living in families with an income less than a quarter of the national average". There will always be families with incomes less than a quarter of the national average, even if every family had incomes of over £1m per.

Very true, it's the way their daft minds work. I define poor as those who cannot afford most of life's little pleasures, and are worse off financially than they were before Brown started to tinker with the system.
