HI've tried to uninstall the version 7 but apparently the patch package cannot be opened. How do you "Check that it exists and that you can access it"? -pops- Posted June 30, 2007 Report Share Posted June 30, 2007 If you still have problems after Pushkin's method, try reinstalling/repairing the version you have already and then do the upgrade.When I upgraded to the later version it removed the old one during the installation and replaced it with the new. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted July 1, 2007 Report Share Posted July 1, 2007 This is one of the main problems of Adobe Reader; if the original installer of the installed version goes missing (e.g. "cleaned" by some cleanig applications), then the Reader cannot be uninstalled or upgraded. You cannot even reinstall the same version; the only way is to remove absolutely everything associated with the Reader, including registry entries.This problem happens to many people, and I cannot understand that Adobe never created a universal uninstaller.P.S. older versions of the Reader can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have downloaded and installed it. I will see how it copes and whether it automatically opens up when I want to read a PDF file.
