nellie2 Posted August 12, 2007 Report Share Posted August 12, 2007 I've got Vista and XP set up to dual boot... although as -pops- said, I don't really visit my XP installation any more. Seshomaru Samma Posted August 13, 2007 Report Share Posted August 13, 2007 I agree with what was said In a dualboot situation one OS is usually not used so often, but if you are trying a new system and still need to boot your old system once in a while, dualbooting can be good (if you have a fast system you might want to consider virtualising with VMware)If you run a Linux/windows dual boot , you would make your life much easier by installing Windows first . Seshomaru Samma Posted August 14, 2007 Report Share Posted August 14, 2007 I use a LiveCD for two reasons :1. if I'm about to install Ubuntu , I can use the LiveCD to see if all the hardware is detected 2. to copy files off a system that wouldn't boot or fix a boot problem. I will then use Knoppix which is much faster than Ubuntu (or Puppy Linux)I don't think they have Live DVDs , the purpose of a live CD is to be fast , Puppy Linux is very fast as it runs entirely from RAM Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Spaz Posted August 22, 2007 Report Share Posted August 22, 2007 I've seen Vista computers not equipped with the .ini file. Chances are Vista may need to be on another boot sector rather than being the dominant OS. I have dual booted Vista but along with that came headaches and waste of time. IMO I would say Dual Booting vista isnt worth it... I would stick to XP and Linux dual booting. Heck, I'd prefer MAC OS and Win OS on a dual boot over Vista and any other OS.
