Emails R Us

I have received an Email from a computer supplier which states :-

"If you are unable to read this message - your Email program may be unable to display HTML messages.

If so, visit http://www.xxxxxxxxxetc to view the information on our website"

It seems to me that if I am unable to read their message - the info about their website would also be invisible......

It used to be some companies try to embed a small gif image into emails. Now that most email programs block images unless explicitly set otherwise, this will not work. So, they are having to make users click something. This is most easily done by making you click a link such as above.

This is purely for tracking reasons. They are estimating how many people have seen their ad or have clicked on their product to estimate a sales forecast.

Unless you trust it, don't click it.

A couple of regular ones which I receive are from Serif and Gizoo. Gizoo is the gadget side of the Serif company. They send them in text format and I have to click on a view button within my e-mail program (Turnpike) to see the HTML version.
