Mike567
I'm watching the montel show (american) with Sylvia Browne on (spiritual lady). She said that our life is temporary. The people we consider to be dead are not, compared to them we are the ones that are dead.Whats everyone think of this?
Irene
She said that our life is temporaryCan't argue with that. The people we consider to be dead are not I wish. :( compared to them we are the ones that are dead Not sure about that! I can certainly feel it, when I pinch myself. Mike567
I don't think she really means dead like rigamortis has set in, its more or less our life stage is not as substantial as theirs compared to them we are nothing yet. catgate
Whats everyone think of this?If every one knew the reality of it, the world would be a very much different place.Eventually we will all know the truth....or perhaps we may even know nothing at all. Irene
I don't think she really means dead like rigamortis has set in, its more or less our life stage is not as substantial as theirs compared to them we are nothing yet. It all sounds a bit deep to me. Do you believe in that sort of thing, Mike567 ?
Mike567
I believe in this some what, in one way I like the feeling that this is just a small amount of what we know, we go onto a much better place. But in another way I find it odd how all the religions preech this idea, you will go to heaven if your bad you will go to hell (you stay here on earth as a ghost kinda thing), but what I find amazing is that none of these spiritual people follow religions, is this not saying something? We know nothing, we are finding new creatures every day on our own planet. We can only see a small amount of our universe, no one has explained the spiritual world except the spirits themselves (google spiritual guide :))

I have a vivid imagination, which is particularly active in my dreams!!
andsome
Why worry about it? One day we will either have an answer or we won't. It doesn't make any difference what we believe, so I certainly won't loose any sleep. Live for the present.
-pops-
I've had a near death experience which I've written about on here before. If you're interested, here it is again:It was December 2nd 1999. I’d gone to bed early as I felt a bit under the weather – nothing definable just a bit “off”. I did have this strange feeling in my chest, though. It wasn’t a pain – like the angina I was fairly used to but it was as though there was something inside my chest that shouldn’t be there. I didn’t give it much thought at the time but, on reflection, it would be best described as feeling like a piece of hose pipe running along the middle of my chest.I was dozing off to sleep and I was woken suddenly by a searing pain in my chest. Like angina but much, much worse. I reached out for the GTN spray that always worked before and sprayed it under my tongue and waited the minute of so it takes to relieve the pain – it didn’t - the pain was as bad as before and getting worse. I started to sweat, sweat profusely but I wasn’t hot, it was December after all. I got out of bed, clutching my chest, sweating like mad. I felt weak and was having difficulty standing up. I called out to the family who were downstairs watching TV or something. My elder son came to the bottom of the stairs and saw me. “Get an ambulance; I’m having a heart attack.” He disappeared and came back a minute or so (seemed an eternity) later with a syringe. He stuck the needle in a vein in my hand and emptied the contents into me. My other son had appeared. He had another syringe which he passed over. It was attached to the needle in my hand and that was emptied into me as well.I should explain at this point that my elder son is a gynaecologist and younger son is medically qualified. All good medics and boy scouts are trained to “be prepared”.The pain eased a bit but I was still sweating. I hadn’t realised until that point that I was lying in a heap on the floor. I saw a blue light through the curtains and voices. A paramedic came in and I was fitted with an oxygen supply. Another paramedic came in with a stretcher and I was lifted into the ambulance. I expected to be taken at high speed to the hospital but, I wasn’t. Eddie (my son) was cutting my shirt off while the paramedics were sorting the cables of their ECG machine. I was attached to the machine and told to lie quietly. The others were talking to each other. One of the paramedics turned to me:“On a scale of one to ten, how severe is the pain?”“A million” I answered.I was then quizzed about any allergies, any medication I was taking and all personal details. Eddie took the clipboard and wrote something. He turned to me. He had a very worried look on his face. I felt scared. “Dad, you’re having a myocardial infarction, a heart attack. Are you sure you’ve not had anything like this before?”I didn’t realise the significance of the question then but I certainly came to realise it later later.“No.”It seemed to be getting dark. Of course it was dark, it was the middle of the night but it was getting dark inside the ambulance as well. I tried to say something but no sound came out. The people there were like silhouettes – no detail in their faces. I felt a sudden sharp pain in my chest, different again to the ones before. Someone had put the lights on again and I saw Eddie pulling a long needle out of my chest. “Come on Dad, don’t leave us.”I felt very, very frightened. The ambulance stopped moving and there was a loud clattering as I was taken out and then into the hospital building. I was surrounded by people. People putting electrodes on me, pulse oximeters, EGC cables, all sorts of measuring devices. People moving quickly but efficiently. I wondered why they worked in semi darkness. I tried to speak again. My mouth wouldn’t work. The pain in my chest was a dull but severe ache.“Now John, we’re moving you to the coronary care unit.”I felt myself being lifted up and moved on to another trolley. I then started to move along the corridor. I was looking up at the ceiling. The lights were on but there didn’t seem to be any light coming out, everything around me was dark. I heard Eddie’s voice. Now, Dad, you’re going to have some more diamorphine, some cyclizine to stop you being sick and then streptokinase to dissolve all those clots you’ve got blocking up the plumbing to your heart. I only half heard him. (It was later I found out what he actually said.)Why do they work in the dark?I could hear myself breathing in and out of the mask over my nose and mouth. There were several people around me but I couldn’t make out who they were, they didn’t seem to have any faces. Where their face should have been, it was a blur – like on the TV when they don’t want someone to be identified. I didn’t feel any pain. I felt very peaceful. I couldn’t move – I was paralysed but it didn’t seem to matter, all was well and all was peaceful. Everything around me looked as if it was glowing; a warm, pink colour. I looked into the distance and saw a light. A soft but very bright light. It was a long way off and I seemed to be moving towards it. My mother’s face appeared, smiling and welcoming. I saw other people from my past in the middle of this light which was getting bigger and bigger as I moved, ever faster towards it. It stopped. I stopped.I saw myself lying in the bed, grey and old. I looked about and saw the people around the bed observing me lying there. I wasn’t there. I was above the bed looking down at me. I’d left my body and I saw myself. I saw a corpse on the bed – I was dead. There was a burning pain in my chest. I opened my eyes and saw a woman’s smiling face looking down at me.“Hello” she said in a very cheery voice.I tried to say hello back to her but no sound came out. I tried to smile but couldn’t because I had this oxygen mask over my mouth. I looked around. We weren’t in the dark any more – the lights were working properly again. Eddie was there and several other people. Everyone looked calm and relaxed but they were busy doing all sorts of things.“You OK, Dad?”Ed was smiling at me but I could see a great sense of relief on his face.“Yes”I wasn’t in any pain any more and I could speak again.“A few little problems there but it’s OK now.”“What do you mean?”“Well, your heart stopped for a while but, we got you going again and, well, here we are back in the land of the living.”He stopped short and the last few words tailed off into nothing.“Sorry, shouldn’t have said it like that.”“What time is it?”“Three o’clock.”“I’m tired.”I woke up. I was disorientated and confused. I didn’t realise straightaway where I was. I remembered having a dreadful nightmare but when I opened my eyes and looked that the strange surroundings, the machinery connected to me, bleeping and flashing, the plastic bag hanging on the stand slowly drip, dripping away into my arm I realised it wasn’t an awful dream, it was true. There was a knock on the door and a nurse came into the room. “Well, how are we today?”I hadn’t thought how I was; I’d only just woken up. I felt weak, extremely weak. It was hard work breathing. I moved my arm and it felt as though it had heavy weights attached to it. I needed a pee.“Where’s the toilet?”“No toilet for you for a few days. Complete bed rest. If you tried to get up, you’d just fall on the floor. I know. I’ve known it happen. Besides, you’d have to take the monitors with you.”She pointed to the machinery at the side of the bed. There must have been about a dozen wires coming from those boxes to various parts of me.The nurse handed me a bottle-like thing but it looked as though it was made of mashed cardboard – like they make egg boxes from. I knew what I supposed to do with it but thought that it would go soggy and fall apart. I hoped I could get it away before that happened. catgate
A very interesting and dramatic story pops.It is very thought provoking. Each time I have heard or read of a similar happening it leaves me wondering just how it fits into the "experts' views".
Mike567
What I find most amazing is that you saw your mother welcoming you.Do you not think that this suggests their is another level in our life. The fact that you are not the only one that has seen these things suggests that this life is only temporary, and we move onto bigger and better things! rong
I am open minded as I can not prove it either way, but is it not possible that the beckoning mother was a picture from childhood that makes you feel (can't think of the word I am looking for)
