Hello!

I've finally finished my computer :P

I've just configured the time and date in the BIOS settings... then I restarted and the last thing it said (white text on black background) was:

CPU Fan Error!

Press F1 To Resume

Some help here please! :(

Thought it would all work... :(

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

Ensure the CPU fan is connected to the correct header on the motherboard. I don't know that specific board but normally there are at least two separate 3-pin fan connectors and it is important that the CPU fan in particular, is connected to the correct one and in the correct direction. If it is not then the sensor will not detect it and you will get an error message.

Have you read my reply above and checked about what I wrote?

The fan you call the heatsink fan is the one we are concerned with. it MUST be plugged into the right header an the right way otherwise the CPU/BIOS will not see it and so report an error.

It may not be that but, as you don't refer to my previous comments, I am thinking you have ignored them. If that is so, I am wasting my time responding at all.

I think it would have been easier for me to fly out to wherever you are and build it myself.

Why not read the manual? All instructions are there - with drawings but, best of all, the real live motherboard is in front of you. You can't expect to be spoonfed all the time.

I've just had a look at one of the illustrations you sent in your other thread and it seems the CPU fan headers are bottom right in the picture proximate to one of the mounting holes. It wasn't much effort for me to find this, perhaps you might be able to do the same.

You really are a bloody wind up merchant

In my post No 96 on your "How do I get people to hold my hand whilst I build a computer my way" thread dated 1st December I posted a diagram taken from YOUR motherboard manual which clearly shows where each fan is to be connected.

I note that you have yet to post your problem on the Neowin or Windows Vista forums - I wonder why. Must be because we are a more helpful and patient bunch of guys and gals here.

Well said, but do you really expect him to take any notice at all? :D
