doug
Trying to do a bit of cleanup. Have a few programs/applications that I can't shift using Add/Remove. For example trying to delete muveeNow 2.1 Think I got it as a download. Any suggestion please. Don't want to just delete from the Program files as that may leave all sorts of stuff. There doesn't seem to be an options to remove it from within the program. Also has to be a free process. Got a few others some downloaded by me some by others. doug
Well I've just shifted that one - Administrator in Safe mode - silly me. But can't do the same for a couple of others. Keep getting "can't open INSTALL.LOG file.
Irene
The following come up in one of my searches. It may be of some use.....IS THIS RELEVANT?
doug
Could well be Irene, will follow that up. Ta.
doug
Followed that through with that Irene. I do have the 8.3 file structure enabled but could not find any evidence of the Smoky City Design Folder. Sounds like something No.1 G'daughter must have been trying and failed at so I must dig deeper. I do allow her to use this PC for access to the internet. Can you give me anymore help on this please. I'm trying to rid the PC of some of the rubbish. I'm sure I've got too many processes running as I've mentioned recently.
mark2
I'm sure I've got too many processes running as I've mentioned recently. Some browsing for you doug, XP processes and Windows start up programs Other than that I've found a brute force deletion of the program files and a clean up with Ccleaner effective as a last resort, and you do have a backup already don't you ? :D
doug
OH yes. Thank God for the backups!
doug
AS I thought managed to find some more details about 2 of the programs they were games that she obviously had downloaded as free trials. If after 60 mins they become locked and you have to buy them before you can get the unlock key. May explain why I can only find them in Add/Remove programs but they wont uninstall. Nor can I locate them by using the search function. So any further suggestions will be welcome. They were distributed by Playfirst .Inc namely Diner Dash - Flo on the Go and Diner Dash 2. Can you imagine my wife or I installing those at our highly respected ages?
Boris
doug,If it is actually there - I suggest you try deleting the folderc:\\program files\\playfirstThen let the registry Clean function of CrapCleaner do its best :)
doug
Thank you both. In fact I eventually found 4 of these items, all from the same source in a hidden folder. So went ahead and deleted as you suggested. Words will be said at the first opportunity.
