The MacBook Air's battery is sealed into the case, not removable by a user -- more like the iPod than like other laptops. That promises to complicate replacement if the battery loses its ability to hold a charge over time. Apple detailed a mail-in program Tuesday under which it will replace any out-of-warranty MacBook Air batteries for $129, the same as it charges now for MacBook Pro batteries. Apple's Web site says the process will normally take five days.

Wonderful, lose the laptop for five days if the battery gives out, presumably the theory is you'll buy a second as a data backup. By the time it gets to the UK it'll suffer the usual Pound Dollar transposition and be at least £129 for the replacement. Interesting, but I suspect you need to be a real techno nerd to seriously need one.
