There is not enough RAM (or HD space) to run Vista properly if that's the O/S you are thinking of using.Why buy a retail optical drive? OEM will be appreciably cheaper.Decide on the motherboard first and THEN consider the bits to put on it, not the other way round.With all due respect, Panarchy, I hope this won't turn into a similar saga that your previous build developed into. Drives of this capacity are becoming hard to obtain as the demand for them is falling when you can get a much larger device for a relatively small layout of money.Don't patch up a new build with odd bits and leftovers from other machines - this will almost invariably result in failure and disappointment. I have negotiated 75% for Panicky and 25% agents fee for myself.
