England Football Squad

Just had a quick look at the 30 players picked today for the England squad - all are from the Premier league.

The number of players from each team is as follows :-

Manchester United 5

Aston Villa 5

Chelsea 4

Tottenham 3

Liverpool 2

Wigan 2

Portsmouth 2

Reading, Everton, Manchester City, West Ham, Middlesborough, Blackburn and Newcastle - 1 each

Notable absentee is Arsenal - a reflection of the fact that they have mainly foreign players.

It should be noted that some players have not been picked due to injury (like John Terry) and Beckham (lack of match fitness)

I'm sure our lady members will find the statistics fascinating - management just did. In fact she got so excited she was speechless.

If,as I think, it is football, why 30? Surely the teams that play football have not also suffered from inflation?

Perm 11 from 30 - in old football pools parlance.

I thought that expression had something to do with Kevin Keegan's hair style in the 60s/70s.

No one from Chasetown then.

No! the England Manager thought the players were too good to be wasted in lousy football.

Port Vale were so impressed after the cup tie that they signed up two of the players. :D

Still no one from Chasetown then?

They don't have the right qualifications - they lack WAG girlfriends, they have got proper jobs and not reliant of footie, they regard football as a sport and not an easy life form, they are real men and don't cry when they get kicked, they make sacrifices and give everything to the game.

Who wants to watch people like that......
