Irene Posted February 10, 2008 Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 I have spent ALL morning trying to sort out a problem highlighted by my AVG scan today. :( Look at these!!! .... When I pressed the "Cleanup" button on the Prevx screen, it just took me to the website to sell me some product.The AVG vault shows that one of the problems is in Prevx!!!I don't know what to do. rong Posted February 10, 2008 Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 I have no idea, but if they are in the vault they shouldn't be a problem, if you are sure you don't need them I would delete them from the vault if you can. Do you have Prevx on your computer? as if you don't I would report them to McAfee as they show as green. Before starting, I did a system restore to yesterday, restored the files from AVG because the last time I had a similar problem, it was a false-positive by AVG. So I thought that if the files were restored and I did a deep scan with A2 and it didn't find anything, it would likely be an AVG mistake, the same as before.BTW rong, I do have Prevx CSI installed. catgate, it is possible to clear the vault in AVG, but if it has moved something incorrectly to the vault, it could cause more problems than before. andsome Posted February 10, 2008 Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 I got rid of Prevx because it scanned only, then charged you to get rid of the Malware. Personally, if anything has been quarantined, I leave it for a few days to see if the computer runs OK. All being well, I then create a Restore Point, and delete the objects in question. However, the 'infection' was said to be in the Prevx.exe file!!When I tried to run a Prevx scan, the .exe file couldn't be found... probably in AVG's vault.In a panic, I tried to uninstall, then delete the program!! I don't believe I have it any more. Since then, I have run an online scan (took forever) with HomeCall TrendMicro. It found a different infection called Troj_Agent.OIC. I think it was removed, but the process didn't seem to want to finish. It still said '6 or 7 seconds to go' and was stated as 'Idle'.
