IE7 on my new computer

You will not believe this. brand new computer and IE7 is playing up on this one.

I downloaded it as part of update and didn't bother with it as I don't use it.

But Hubbie wanted UEFA cup scores so went to it keeping FF open and found it was opening in no add on phase.

Couldn't get it off it then played around and found that I had to go to programs and hit IE as IE without add ons in in accessories=system.

Fixed.

Today back to IE7 without add ons.

Also lost my auto connect window once again just as I did on previous XP Home edition.

had 6 updates from Bill and restart - still not auto update.

Is this weird or does it happen just to me on two different computers or is IE7 bugged or buggered :lol:

Shall I just roll back to IE6 or what?

Not sure I understand what your problem is...

From where do you open IE7? (I usually open it from QuickLaunch)

What is the version number of your IE7? (Mine is 7.0.5730.13)

Open it from Start - programs on list. Keep 20.

I have no problems whatsoever with IE 7. This is just a suggestion, as it is well known on here that I tried FF and did not get on with it, but does the fault perhaps lie with FF being on the computer? Please folks, don't get me wrong, this is personal choice of course, and my suggestion is merely that, a suggestion, and NOT a recommendation. :D

You could try rolling back to Internet Explorer 6. I just hide the IE7 update on all my computers.

If it ain't broke...don't fix it.

Ok Scarecrow Man - I will roll back just as I did on the other one.

Hopefully then I will get back my auto connect window that again disappeared with IE7.

I was having problems with it anyway as it continually wants to start in disabled add on mode. Since I only use it to check on things at MS like updates etc IE6 will do the job fine and to be honest I like it better than 7 which aint a patch on FF - sorry 'ansome :D

I did read somewhere that & was developed in particular not only to compete with Firefox but to go with Vista, and for me it has only seemed to be buggy - as many report Vista still to be too. B)

I also heard that Windows 7 is in the pipeline for earlier release - says not a lot for Vista to me

Lucky XP will be supported until 2010.

:D Naughty - beta is not good unless you are a tech minded person who can build and re build a computer as they can muck up things eh.

I wouldn't even bother to have IE6 if I could remove it but need it for some links and for updates.

I have had to go off auto updates as having rolled it back - I know it will try to download the bloody thing again.

I went to try to hide it but it told me I had 4 critical downloads(1 was ie7) and no way to hide it or not take IE7 and anyway I already had the other 3 earlier today I checked so much for it checking eh. :0

Have to wait til later and try again or wont be able to take auto ones.

also now have some updates for ie7 that I dont need but cant identify them'

when I did uninstall it told me that I had other programs that may be affected by removing 7 - most of which were on the computer when it arrived anyway but a lot of those were update patches too. Should have taken down the numbers too late now

There are some issues with Hotmail with Beta 8. I made a full Acronis backup and tried it.

I really cannot understand what the problems are here with IE 7. I get on fine with it, with NO problems whatsoever. It can only be something else. regarding unwanted updates, you can select to hide these on the update page, and they will not bother you again. I have two hardware updates so hidden. :D

Not sure how that add on works. Got it version suggested.

I have rolled back to IE6 and things are working fine once more auto connected instead of having to do it manually.

My email is working nicely with correct font and notifier I chose not one IE7 chose.

I only use IE6 for updates anyway or when a link uses it instead of FF for some reason.

even the font on this website is better now than it was with IE7 and no one knows why I bet - certainly not Bill and his merry men who dont want to know anything now do they?

'ansome - 2 different computers with XP home different versions - both work oddly after downloading IE7 cant be the only two in the world - read on other sites where people have rolled back and funny thing is you couldn't roll back prior to IE7 which means they suspected it may be a dud on some computers maybe???

Maybe it don't like Incredimail which was most affected program. B)
