Coreper Posted April 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 18, 2008 my monitor drivers? since when does a monitor need drivers? its plug and play...the image i showed wasnt photoshopped...and as you can see: the menu [with me] gives options of a CRT monitor, while the other one gives options of a TFT monitorso somehow the nVidia driver doesnt recognise my monitor as a flatpanel, which it is... I don't know what else you thought I meant Until I checked to reply to this thread, I hadn't a clue what my computer said about the monitor as I didn't care. It works perfectly fine so I didn't see any reason to look. As it happens, my computer thinks it is feeding a Phillips CRT when, in fact it is an HP 1740 TFT. Am I bothered? Not in the least.I do trend to use my computers for something more constructive than looking constantly as whether this or that is working properly and then worrying when something I expected to be there, is in fact different (as in this "problem"). HOWEVER, if I install the drivers on the CD that came with it and then look in properties, it shows the make and type. There was no driver on the disc that came with the monitor - just a number of trial programmes including, anti-virus, photo editing, DVD playing, screen capture and other freeware. I was sorting through the accumulated detritus on my desk just now and found the disk that came with the HP monitor (mentioned above).On the disk were drivers for W95, W98, ME, W2K, NT, XP plus colour matching software. I'd never installed them so I did that. There is very little difference now that I have adjusted things to my liking (too garish colouring on their recommended setup) but the machine now correctly identifies the monitor.
