I have met with just the same responses when I thought I was cheering up an elderly person by visiting them (not as a member of the 'cloth') but was given short shrift.The point is that each of us is an individual and we all have different needs and priorities which should be considered and it's not always easy to accept this when you think you're doing what's best for someone I have in mind a sketch where a man is trying to help an old lady across the road and it's clear that that is not where she wants to go :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sometimes even good deeds can be done to satisfy our own egos, rather than to genuinely help other people. The old lady who doesn't want to be led across the road ends up hitting the Goodie with her umbrella to make him leave her alone!
