CurlyWhirly Posted August 2, 2008 Report Share Posted August 2, 2008 The government is considering a windfall tax (like they imposed when they first came into power in 1997) but I don't think it will work as the energy companies will probably further increase prices to compensate adding to the inflation problem and increasing fuel poverty.Also I am cynical as to the governments intention to help the poor and think that it is more likely to be used to plug their multi-billion 'black hole' at the Treasury!They might also consider moving their headquarters out of the UK like some of the other companies have done, like Shire pharmaceuticals Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
