It is this smoke that enables the components to work so well - if it escapes - it stops.I will put money that if you see smoke escaping from your computer, router etc., it will not work again.Proves the point - these things run on smoke. Its like broadband actually runs on little bunnies running up and down pipes. Its just that some clever PR folk decided that it would be much more saleable if there was a complex technology behind it, but I know the truth - same as with the smoke, but this time its the bunnies. Why else is there such a difference between downstream rates and upstream rates? Two reasons, firstly that the little bunnies are tired from their sprint from the exchange to your house and secondly bunny etiquette requires the bunny returning to the exchange to stand aside and let the downstream bunny pass. Thus downstream bunnies travel much faster than upstream bunnies. Why is broadband so much slower if you are further from the exchange. At the speed that electricity moves, even an extra mile hardly effects the time that it takes to travel - but at bunny speed, that extra distance counts. It even explains packet size. Each bunny carries a packet of data in its little bag. If you make the packet size too small then you require lots of bunnies to carry them and you end up with congestion in the pipes. Make the packets too big and the bunnies get tired out carrying them and their data bags bang against the side of pipe, slowing them down. Select th right size packet and hey presto, each bunnies is carrying the right size load and you do not need too many of them.See it all makes sense.EM__________________HAZARDS - There Is an Island of Opportunity in the Middle of Every Difficulty, Miss that Thought and You're Pretty Much Doomed!Posted by Enormouse on the TalkTalk forum
Gandalph
A bit of that makes sense Doug. Which bit I'm not sure of.

andsome
Well it sound fine to me.Me too. I like rabbit stew. No problem as bunnies breed like rabbits, so they would soon be replaced. :D
