Memory Foam Mattresses

Does anyone have one - if so - what do you think about it.

During the winter I usually sleep with an electric underblanket on a very low setting all night. However I read that memory foam is temperature sensitive - it softens when it gets warmer - thus responding to your body heat. Any thoughts....?

We use a an under blanket topper. It's a sort of thin Duvet that goes over the mattress under the under sheet. With that and the normal Duvet - winter grade - warm as toast!

I know someone who has a mattress made entirely of memory foam, they say it settles down as hard as a brick because it does not readily move back into position as you roll over in the night. Our mattresses now have about 35mm of memory foam, and we would not bother again. Since we have been using electric under blankets, it is a waste of money and time. I have always been used to turning the mattresses regularly, but you cannot do this with a layer of foam on one side. It's up to you of course, but given the choice again, I would NOT bother. :D

We paid £800 for our mattress. It's got the foam on the top of the mattress.

It's wonderful. Very comfy and definately creates warmth. Last winter we didn't even have to get the 10 tog duvet out.

The only slight drawback is that it isn't a reversable mattress - just top to bottom. It makes the bed higher too so the bedspread doesn't fit properly.

I thought it was expensive at the time but it's the best we've had.

Yes, we have 5 inch memory foam matresses. Very good indeed, I have an electric underblanket for initial warmth, which is switched off on getting inot bed, and from then on I find a sheet and a very light eiderdown sufficient.

Management doesn't even bother with the electric underblanket, but she is a woman!! and spends most of the night taking off, and puttin back on, various layers of bedclothes.
