A mobile 'phone query

Being the Luddite that I am, I have no real interest in mobile 'phones, but, since management feels more secure if she has one with her when she is out and about on her own, we have one .

Following the debacle with the car a couple of days ago we decided that we should have one which could not just take 'photos that could be despatched into the ether, but one which would down load the 'photos to a PC. We have kindly been offered such a thing, but I have a problem.

We are currently on Orange “pay as you go” with our present 'phone and the offered 'phone is “unlocked”.

Now I am aware that unlocking frees the 'phone from the current Telephone Service Provider, but will our SIM card just transfer into it. What I suppose I am asking is “are all SIM card physically the same, differing only in the information on them?”

The only thing that I know is that Sim cards are interchangeable. I bought a new mobile a few months ago, and to save transferring all my saved contact numbers I just transferred the old Sim card. My number stayed the same of course by doing this. This is the third phone that this Sim card has been in. :D

I just replied on your other post, catgate. :D

Yes, I've just responded.

For some obscure reason, which may be connected with age or lack of intelligence, I some how managed to post it in Subscriber Lounge first. I then found I could not delete it, and knowing how cold and univiting it is in there, I thought it better to post it elsewhere...such as here.

Thanks for that. I am learning...but slowly.

To delete your own threads, look down toward the left hand side, and you will see 'Moderation Options' or something very similar, I can't remember exactly. :D

I think I have deleted before sometime, but I just could not find the button. I think when I have deleted previously the button was on the bottom of the screen about a quarter way in from the right. Maybe that is only for deleting replies??

This was Irene's (now deleted) reply

My present mobile was an O2 when I acquired it.

After having taken it to a trader in our local market, he 'unlocked' it and I now successfully use my 'Pay As You Go' Orange sim in it.

Hope that answers the question for you. :D
