I have a good computer running Windows XP (not 64 version) with 2GB of Memory.Is it worth it to go to Vista on the same computer, and if so besides getting 4 GB of Memory is there anything else I would need to change?What is the most powerful reason to go from XP to Vista? Dencandy Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 I haven't used Vista, so can't answer from personal experience, but I've read that it gives enhanced capabilities for graphics/pictorial programs. Some people complain about many problems with it, others have none at all. But wait for some more replies.Rather than lash out on upgrading to Vista, maybe it would be more sensible to wait for the launch of Windows 7 later this year? If you are happy with XP, then I would stay with XP for now.You could, of course, try Vista on a separate partition, as a multiboot system. This way you could see if there are any advantages for you from Vista, without losing your XP installation.I fully agree with Dencandy that waiting for Windows 7 is probably the best option. When I was using Vista I liked it sort of, but the frequent lags, errors and having to allow something all the time from the Control Panel were annoying me so I came back to XP. But I'm not sure what it would be like given a decent amount of memory. Perhaps you should try it and like Decandy and Pat said, wait for Windows 7 and try that.They were giving away Beta versions but don't know what's happening with this still...
